Events and Conferences
Each year the campuses invite faculty or institutions to collaborate on events or conferences that expand the global reach of the event and capitalize on the unique strengths of each location. From cultural events, to academic conferences, to public diplomacy talks, the campuses have a long history of shared gatherings.

First International Performance of “Here I Am”
Staged for the first time outside of America, the original production of the Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics at Georgetown University uses narrative, music, and multimedia imagery to explore themes of identity, memory, and institutional responsibility.

“Sustaining the Oasis” with Earth Commons
Earth Commons was a co-sponsor of the “Sustaining the Oasis” conference, and participants included Dr. Peter Marra, Dr. Marcus King, Dr. Mark Giordano, and featuring a performance by the Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics, Georgetown University

Institute for Women, Peace, and Security in Qatar
Hosted by GU-Q in collaboration with the Institute for Women, Peace, and Security, “Empowered Voices: Women Shaping Peace in the MENA Region,” marked the launch of the MENA Women Peacebuilders Initiative.

“AI Uprising” Panel Featuring Douglas Little
Douglas Little, Senior Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Georgetown University moderated a panel on “Innovation to Improve Humanity” at the Hiwaraat “AI Uprising” Conference.

Bringing World Cup Fever from Doha to DC
GU-Q celebrated the FIFA Qatar World Cup on the DC campus through a series of cultural events, research seminars, and student exchanges.

Governance from the Global South
“Global Governance in an Age of Fracture” brought together a group of experts from the Middle East, Asia, and Africa to offer insight from the Global South on governance models which can address challenges of the time.

Economic Migration to the United States
This Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRS) illuminates the role of non economic factors in driving migration and integration. DC facutly contributors include faculty Katherine Donato and B. Lindsay Lovel from the Institute for the Study of International Migration

Water and Conflict in the Middle East
This research project under CIRS examines how conflict over water resources has influenced political relations between different countries in the Middle East region. DC faculty participants included Mark Giordano and Marcus Dubois King.
The resulting publication Water and Conflict in the Middle East (Hurst, 2020) was edited by Marcus Dubois King.
