Please join us for a Fireside Chat with Laila Lalami moderated by Abdullah Al-Arian, Associate Professor at Georgetown University Qatar.

Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing at the University of California, Riverside, Lalami was born and raised in Morocco and is now based in California. She is the author of six books, including The Moor’s Account (winner of the Arab American Book Award and finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction), The Other Americans (finalist for the National Book Award), and the nonfiction work Conditional Citizens, a New York Times Editors’ Choice.

Lalami’s essays and criticism on borders, migration, identity, and citizenship have appeared in major outlets such as The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, and The New York Times. Lalami is a  graduate of Université Mohammed V, University College London, and the University of Southern California.
