About

Please join us for a conversation with Adania Shibli, a recipient of the Young Writer’s Award from the A. M. Qattan Foundation, which she received in both 2002 and 2004. Her most recent novel, Minor Detail, was shortlisted for the National Book Award in 2020 and longlisted for the International Booker Prize in 2021. Alongside her literary work, Adania is engaged in research and teaching at universities across Europe and at Birzeit University.

How do we understand nationalism as it actually functions, changing, remerging, reappearing, beyond just a fixed category? This talk explores how nationalism and national identity in the region is being reshaped by several factors: migration, economic change, and generational shift.
