About

Please join us for a conversation with Adania Shibli, a recipient of the Young Writer’s Award from the A. M. Qattan Foundation, which she received in both 2002 and 2004. Her most recent novel, Minor Detail, was shortlisted for the National Book Award in 2020 and longlisted for the International Booker Prize in 2021. Alongside her literary work, Adania is engaged in research and teaching at universities across Europe and at Birzeit University.

This panel highlights contributions in the new Handbook on Authoritarianism in the Arab World, forthcoming open access from Bloomsbury Politics. The Handbook highlights the specificities of authoritarianism in the Arab world while placing the region in the context of global trends.
