Qatar National Day
Celebrate Qatar’s independence and national unity with a series of events leading up to the public holiday on December 18, where fireworks and laser displays light up the night. At GU-Q, a Qatari student-organized festival day near the end of the semester invites the community to share in the culture and cuisine of their host country.

Qatar National Sports Day
A truly unique holiday, Qatar’s National Sports Day is a day off dedicated to building healthy habits. On the second Tuesday in February, GU-Q celebrates with festive programming and participation in national competitions and activities.
Past Sports Day activities have included:
- Family sports day in Oxygen Park
- Running along Doha’s beautiful palm tree-lined corniche
- Friendly football matches
- Barbecue breakfast and outdoor games
- Miniature golf and bowling
- Exercise classes
- A desert hike to explore a public art installation
