Student Government Association
The Student Government Association (SGA) represents the student voice and works with the Student Activities Commission to fund clubs and committees.
SGA Activities and Responsibilities
- Governing the SGA and student life in tandem with university departments
- Representing and engaging with the student body about major university decisions
- Overseeing policies that address student needs and improve the quality of life on campus
- Upholding and promoting the highest standard of conduct among students in accordance with the Georgetown Honor Pledge and the Code of Conduct
- Creating groups and sub-bodies within SGA to achieve specific goals
- Providing outreach, advising, and funding to student clubs and committees
- Overseeing a budget that is the equivalent of the combined Student Activities Fees of every student
- Creating rules and guidelines for club funding via the Student Activities Commission
GU-Q Athletics
Join one of the five intercollegiate teams or make use of the world-class athletics facilities in Education City to reach your health and fitness goals.
Intercollegiate Athletics
GU-Q teams compete in Qatar Foundation intercollegiate leagues, facing competitors from the other branch campuses in Education City and beyond. If you are interested in joining any of these sports teams, please send an email to Student Life.

- Hoya Cricket Club – Comprising Georgetown students from India, Pakistan, the United Kingdom, and beyond, the club holds weekly practice sessions and special sessions for interested students (both male and female) who want to learn the sport. Contact Uday Rosario if you want to join.
Athletic Facilities for Everyone
Hoya student-athletes train and practice in Education City, utilizing outdoor and indoor playing fields, an Olympic-size swimming pool, and state-of-the-art weight rooms. All GU-Q students can take advantage of opportunities at the Qatar Foundation Recreation Center, including yoga classes, golf tournaments, and tennis competitions. Qatar Foundation also provides a full-time weight room instructor and a swim coach.
