Accelerated Master’s and Law Admission Programs

GU-Q supports applications to DC campus accelerated bachelor’s/master’s programs that allow you to complete two degrees in approximately five years. For students planning to attend law school, we also offer the Georgetown Law Early Assurance Program.

Accelerated Master’s Degrees

In DC, the School of Foreign Service and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences sponsor several accelerated bachelor’s/master’s programs for qualified GU-Q students who plan to continue their professional education in international affairs at the graduate level and want to complete the two degrees on an accelerated timeline.

Eligibility and Admissions Process

Third-year GU-Q students who have maintained an honors average (3.50 or better) are eligible to apply to one of the above multidisciplinary master’s degree programs. Students with appropriate undergraduate coursework may count graduate-level courses toward the undergraduate degree. Some graduate programs may permit courses beyond those required for the undergraduate degree to be applied toward the master’s degree with explicit approval of the particular master’s program, the BSFS Program, and the Graduate School.

Admissions

Admission is highly competitive. Applicants must satisfy all application requirements set by the Graduate Admissions Office, other than completion of the Graduate Record Examination, including:

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Completion of the SFS core curriculum by the end of the third year
  • Completion of at least half the courses in the undergraduate major by the end of the third year

How to Apply

  • Register your intent to apply with your GU-Q Curricular and Advising Dean before the end of October of your third year
  • Review the basic requirements and satisfy all graduate school application procedures as outlined by the Graduate Admissions Office, by January 15.
  • Contact Dean Lisa Gordinier (lag33@georgetown.edu) in the BSFS Dean’s Office before submitting the application.

Timeline

Successful applicants begin the graduate program in the fourth year of their BSFS program. They spend this year at Georgetown’s Washington, DC campus, where they receive their BSFS degree upon completion of all undergraduate requirements. The fifth year of study is spent at the Washington, DC campus as a graduate student. See the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Graduate Bulletin for more details.


Georgetown Law Early Assurance Program

The Early Assurance Program is designed to encourage top undergraduates from accross Georgetown’s campuses to apply to the Georgetown Law Center for early admission. Currently enrolled third-year students from any major are eligible to apply, and the application window is open from March to April each year.
