Shared Courses and Class Trips
Each year, students have access to shared courses across campus—some with a travel component—which allows them to meet their fellow Hoyas on campus, or another location around the world. Past trips have included visits to India, Mauritius, and Washington, DC.

Bridging Capitals
The DC cricket team came to Doha for a friendly match in 2024. “It was awesome to bring both teams together and to have dinner and bond between the two campuses,” said Matthew Turner, DC Cricket Team member.

Women as Changemakers
Each year during Fall or Spring break, students in INAF 2208:Women as Changemakers visit Washington, DC. They engage with GU-DC students and faculty and meet women leaders from various DC-based organizations.

Indian Ocean Studies
Cross-campus trips to study the Indian Ocean world have brought students together in Mauritius and India, to study the historical and contemporary forces shaping these nations.

Live Online Courses in the Global Classroom
Both the DC and Doha campuses have access to a custom-built digital telepresence classroom that mirrors its counterpart. Here, students can take classes and have live discussions with their peers on their sister campus. Search “RPX Global Classroom” in the course catalogue to find these courses, which have included Quantitative Methods, South Asia in the Indian Ocean, and Race, Power, and Justice at GU.
Other Cross‑Location Engagements

Jakarta, Indonesia Campus Visit
A Zones of Conflict, Zones of Peace trip included a colloquium at the Georgetown Jakarta campus centered on Indonesia’s environmental crossroads. “Engaging directly with their peers in Jakarta encouraged them to reflect more deeply on how local challenges are shaped by—and contribute to—global environmental realities,” said professor Firat Oruc.
International Crisis Negotiation
Held in collaboration with the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy (ISD) at the School of Foreign Service, this one-credit crisis simulation course is crafted and overseen by ISD faculty, and local diplomats in Qatar. “Drawing on our campus in DC provides unparalleled resources and expertise for students here in Qatar,” said course organizer Dr. Christine Schiwietz.
