Is Georgetown University in Qatar Good?

Is GU-Q good? This is the question I asked myself at the end of the Georgetown Admissions Ambassador Program (GAAP) event I attended some two years ago.
During that time, I had heard back from all the universities I applied to, and received good news. The only problem was this: all of the universities were home in the Philippines, and GU-Q was the only one I applied to outside the country.
Ever since I was younger, my plan had always been to finish high school in Qatar, then leave to study further at home. It was a simple plan, one I was dedicated to for years. Staying in Doha for university was never something I seriously considered until I attended that GAAP event.
When prospective students think about where to go for university, they naturally weigh the pros and cons, as I did.

GU-Q is unique in that it offers an American liberal arts education in Doha, in the middle of a vibrant and multicultural region that many students call home. It offers a world-class education in international affairs. Each person you meet is from a distinct part of the world, with students coming from over 80 different countries. GU-Q is a slice of the world in one place, making it the best university for an undergraduate education in international affairs.
But, as I’ve gone through my Georgetown Qatar journey, I’ve realized that statistics only tell part of the story.
What they don’t show is the depth of growth and change possible within a year at GU-Q.

The sheer amount of opportunities at reach, from traveling, to academic research, and even student employment on campus. They don’t show the beauty of studying at Education City, a city like no other anywhere in the world. How utterly cared for I am not just by the friends I’ve gained, but also from GU-Q faculty and staff.
Now going into my third year at GU-Q, I can confidently answer the question Daphne from the past couldn’t answer.
So, is GU-Q good?
My short answer: yes.
My slightly longer answer: yes, but come find out for yourself.

The Semester I Picked Up a Canon R6 Mark II
My first semester at GU-Q can be measured in weeks, deadlines, and syllabi, but for me it is best remembered through a camera strap resting on my shoulder. The moment I picked up my Canon R6 II, it quietly became part of my daily rhythm. It followed me into ordinary walks, spontaneous detours, and moments when I felt most present.
