Information for Counselors

• Early Action – A pathway designed to enable exceptional students to learn of their admission status early in their senior year. The deadline is November 1, 2026.
• Regular Decision – A pathway designed to give high school seniors and graduates ample time to finalize their application materials and apply. The deadline is January 15, 2027.
• Transfer Applicants – Potential transfer students must be, or have been, enrolled at a post-secondary institution and must apply during the Regular Decision fall application cycle. Transfer applicants are restricted to the Regular Decision application cycle and must apply directly via the GU-Q Application.

Georgetown University in Qatar welcomes students to apply either through the GU-Q Application or the Common Application. Students should select the option that is right for them, but only submit one application for admission. There is no advantage to students submitting one application over the other.

GU-Q Application

Part I: This form should be filled online. To ensure that all application elements can be matched to your application record, please spell your first, middle and last names EXACTLY as they are spelled on your passport on every part of the application (Test Scores, Essays, etc.)

Part II: Submit additional required forms and upload supporting documents through the admissions portal. Applicants will receive instructions on how to access this after submitting Part I.

Common Application

Starting fall 2026, the Common App is available for students applying to Georgetown University in Qatar. Applicants should recieve an email with login instructions to their application portal after submitting an application via Common App.

Requirements

• Writing Supplement
• Passport Copy
• Official high school transcripts/grade reports (final 3 years of secondary school)
• Official post-secondary transcripts (all post-secondary studies, if applicable)
• Counselor Report
• Teacher Recommendation
• TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo results
• SAT or ACT results (GU-Q is test-flexible for Fall 2027)
• An interview may be required. The Office of Admissions will contact applicants as necessary
• GU-Q will waive the application fee for completed applications

Please note that all supplementary application documents must be received by the application deadline. We recommend that all documents be submitted as early as possible.

What is Slate.org?

Slate.org is a free, secure platform designed for school counselors and teachers to monitor students’ application progress and submit application materials directly to participating colleges and universities including Georgetown University in Qatar.

How does Georgetown University in Qatar use Slate.org?

Georgetown University in Qatar uses Slate.org to make the application process more efficient for counselors and applicants. Through the platform, counselors can securely upload supporting documents, track the progress of their students’ applications, and receive admission decisions once they have been released to applicants.

How do I create an account?

To register, visit Slate.org and select the Register option from the main navigation. Follow the prompts to create your account.

What documents can I submit through Slate.org?

Counselors may securely upload a range of application materials, including:

• School transcripts
• Letters of recommendation
• School reports
• Additional supporting documents requested as part of the application process

Recommendation Forms

Our application includes online forms for teachers and counselors to complete. These forms are sent automatically once the applicant enters you as a recommender. While we do have paper-based forms, we prefer to receive the reports via our online application. Students must request express permission from our office to submit paper-based forms.

Transcripts

Official transcripts must be sent by a school official/counselor through the Counselor Report or via email. Transcripts for the last three years of high school, mid-year reports, predicted grades (if applicable), and any transcripts for subsequent studies are required.

The Office of Admissions does not make decisions about advanced/transfer credit. After admissions decisions are released, the Office of Admissions forwards transcripts of admitted students to the Office of Curricular and Academic Advising for review, at which point the Office of Curricular and Academic Advising will determine how much advanced/transfer credit students will receive.
