    Speaking of Desert Hoya, I have a big announcement to make. I am sure some of you have noticed the new faces we have had on our social media lately, and have been wondering who all those new people are. I am happy to announce that the Desert Hoya Crew has grown!

    My Road to Leadership: A Georgetown Student Gives Back

    At heart, I always knew I would return to my Alma Mater, the African Leadership Academy (ALA), but I did not think it would be this soon. After finishing my first year at Georgetown, I had the fortunate opportunity to intern as an alumni educator for the Global Scholars Program (GSP).

    What Makes Home Special: My Summer in South Africa

    I’m now back! And ready to talk to you about the exciting adventures coming up during my summer break Leaving Doha for Pretoria after a thrilling and eventful first year in college was bitter-sweet. It made me realize that I had fallen in love with my new home – Qatar.

    First Year Reflections

    I have transitioned from being a high school student in South Africa to being an international college student in Qatar within 8 months. It has been a thrill, but most of all, it has been one of the best decisions I have made in my early adulthood.

    At GU-Q, friendships are at the center of the student experience. Our tight-knit community made it easy for me to find my circle, full of fun, daring, and wholesome. They are my support system and a safe space.
