About

Ahdaf Soueif is a writer and activist. She is the author of the celebrated novel, The Map of Love, shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2000 and translated into more than 30 languages. Ms. Soueif is the translator of Mourid Barghouthi’s I Saw Ramallah, and the curator and editor of Reflections on Islamic Art and This is Not A Border.

Ahdaf Soueif is the Founder and Chair of the Palestine Festival of Literature (PalFest), a Patron of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, and the Caine Prize for African Writing (UK), a Trustee of al-Mawred al-Thaqafi (Beirut) and of the International Prize for Arab Fiction – IPAF. She was the first recipient of the Mahmoud Darwish Award in 2010, and in October 2019, she was honoured with the European Cultural Foundation’s Princess Margriet Award for Culture.
