About

This lecture explores the paintings of the last Ottoman caliph, Abdülmecid Efendi (1868-1944). After the Young Turk Revolution of 1908, Abdülmecid used his art to portray himself as a modern and responsible member of the Ottoman dynasty. His work thus opens a window onto the world of the late Ottomans.
