H.E. Grabar-Kitarović brings extensive experience in transatlantic security and international governance. She served as Croatia’s Ambassador to the United States from 2008 to 2011 before joining NATO as Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy (2011–2014), becoming the first woman to hold the position. She later served as President of Croatia from 2015 to 2020, becoming both the first woman elected to the office and, at age 46, the youngest president in Croatia’s history.
