What Experiential Learning Taught Moza Al Hajri

“During my time as a student, I had the opportunity to work across government, investment, and consulting environments, many of which were facilitated by GU-Q’s emphasis on experiential learning and career support. While the classroom builds a strong foundation of transferable skills, being in real office settings showed me how work actually operates. I developed practical skills in professional communication, project management, delegation, and teamwork, but more importantly, I learned the difference between academic research and research that informs policy and business decisions. It pushed me to translate what I learned in class into insights that are usable, relevant, and impactful for stakeholders.”
—Moza Al Hajri, Class of 2026, International Economics major, minors in Arabic and History
How Aras Karlidag Made the Most of His Time at GU-Q

“I participated in several academic and research-driven trips, including the Zones of Conflict, Zones of Peace program in Indonesia, attended the Hearth Summit in Slovenia, and conducted field research in Greece, the Faroe Islands, and Iceland. I completed internships at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Representation in Doha, which exposed me to policymaking and diplomatic practice.
Academically, I complemented these experiences through applied coursework, including a full-scale negotiation simulation course and the TradeLab joint course with HBKU, where my team advised Qatar’s World Trade Office on dispute settlement reform.”
—Aras Karlidag, Class of 2026, International Politics major, Economics minor
